Some of these modes were successful part others were not. Isolation is when a nation does not begin whatever contact with both other nation; it is similar to be neutral. This mode of foreign policy was not that successful because the United States could not stay neutral and continue up going to war with Britain. Imperialism is when you build an empire. An example of Imperialism would be the United States taking control of Cuba, the Philippines. In Cuba there construct been two revolts against the Spanish who had control over them.

The Americans sympathized with the Cubans because they reminded them of the time the U.S fought for independency against Britain.
